About the event
Cut a little, wander a lot, and walk out with a bouquet you can say you picked yourself (we did the growing — you get the bragging rights). Goldfinch Hill's summer flower field is open a handful of scheduled dates only, so grab your spot before the sunflowers do!
We're tucked just outside St. Louis in Caseyville, IL. Easy to get to, just 7 minutes off of Hwy 64, located between Fairview Heights and Collinsville.
What to Expect
When you arrive — park in one of the marked spots. Most parking will be in the grass so if we need to we will cancel if the ground is just too wet. That will mean the fields are really soggy too, which won't make for a fun experience. Any time we cancel, we will offer a refund or reschedule date.
Head up the drive and enter the field through the gate on the left just past the rose arbor. PLEASE DO NOT enter the barn, the black gate, or our garage and home.
Check in at the table where you will find the snips and a pitcher for holding your stems in the field. There will be a brief intro to the farm and a short instruction on how to cut your stems for the best looking bouquet.
Head out to the flower rows — wander until something catches your eye, snip it, keep going. There's no wrong way to do this. Take your time, take a hundred photos, let your mind relax.
When you're ready — bring your stems back and we'll show you how to wrap your bouquet or if a vase or jar is calling your name, this is your moment to grab one.
Heads up — this is a real farm, not a manicured park, so expect uneven ground, dirt, and the occasional bee or wasp doing exactly what they're supposed to be doing in a field full of flowers. Kids will have scissors in hand, so keep an eye on them the whole time.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
$30 a person. That covers your time in the field plus a bouquet you cut yourself, wrapped up and ready to go.
Do my kids need a ticket?
Nope — kids meander for free. But if they want to cut their own bouquet, it's the same cost as an adult.
Is this kid-safe? They'll have scissors, right?
They will if you allow it. Please keep eyes on your kiddos the whole time, please. This is a real working farm, not a playground, so a little supervision goes a long way.
What's blooming right now?
Depends on the week — but expect zinnias, sunflowers, celosia, and whatever else decided to show off. Nature picks the lineup, not us.
Do I need to book ahead, or can I just show up?
We ask that you book ahead of time. If you show up the day of without a ticket, there is no guarantee there will be space. These groups are intentionally designed to be small.
How long do I get out there?
Your experience is for a 2 hour window of time, although it likely won't take that long if you don't want it to.
What should I wear or bring?
Shoes you don't mind getting dusty, sunscreen, and a hat if you burn easy. We've got the snips and something to carry your stems in — you just bring yourself.
What happens if it rains?
If weather shuts us down, you get to pick: reschedule to another date, or a full refund. No hard feelings either way.
Can I bring my dog?
Please leave the pup at home — we've already got animals running the place, and our farm cats may or may not make a guest appearance. Best not to mix households.
Can I book this just for my group — birthday, shower, girls' day?
Absolutely, we do private bookings outside our regular dates. Just reach out and we'll get you sorted.
